we went to dc for the weekend - we had an awesome time but the trip almost didn't happen. there was a huge snowstorm in the northeast this weekend and altho the weather didn't affect us directly, nonetheless the delays in flights caused a domino effect. there were massive delays and flight cancellations as two of the major hubs were badly hit by the storm - chicago and newyork. holly a friend of ours is still stuck in san francisco even as i write this - where she's been held up since saturday on her way to seattle. we found out that our flight was canceled right after we cleared the baggage check around 5pm - our flight was supposed to depart at 5.30. bummers. we'd been looking forward to seeing marcus and going skiing so we decided to drive to dc as it's not that far (4hrs) and we've driven that route a dozen times before. i thought the decision was very spontaneous of us :D
we spent most of saturday skiing which was super fun. had pho for brunch and iranian food for dinner. on sunday we went to the newseum which is the newest museum in dc dedicated to journalism, news and free speech. we also met up with faizureen for lunch at penang - the restaurant - it was more authentic by leaps and bounds than the one in chapel hill. staff was certainly alot friendlier.
