9/11

a month has passed since my last post. alot (or maybe not) has happened. well, for one thing, i've joined the ranks of the unemployed (yippee!) with no job to look forward to ... the feeling is difficult to describe. or maybe i don't really feel anything yet. right now, it feels like an extended long weekend. boredom hasn't set in yet. i'm still relishing not having to wake up at the sound of the alarm. and luxurious afternoon naps. i'm a lazy bum at heart.

listening to npr now. listeners are calling in to talk about what they were doing on 9/11/2001

it's the 8th anniversary of the bombing of the twin towers. i'd just returned from buying okm's birthday present - a guitar - when it took place. perhaps for this reason, that the memory of such a horrific event precedes it, we don't really celebrate okm's birthday. but perhaps it's an excuse - because he's really not a birthday person.

the getaway to greenville sc was really fun. as a city, it was surpassed all expectations. the downtown was vibrant. mainstreet was tree-lined and very pedestrian friendly. the architecture that defined it was an eclectic mix. historic storefronts, art deco towers, post modern and modern edifices. there was a usonian house in the historic district that bordered the city. an urban park with a natural waterfall as it's centerpiece.
