American Weirdo

A lot is often made about 'the stupid American' ... and how ignorant Americans are. Honestly, I don't think that people here are more stupid or ignorant than any other peoples around the world ... well, maybe ... :P

I've met just as many stupid ignorant people in other parts of the world - like the cab driver in Shanghai who thinks that Australia is a backwater country (he's never visited the country). Even then, I have found that travel is not the solution for ignorance ... although it helps. I have observed that in some people, travel reinforces certain prejudices which compounds their stupidity or makes them an authority on Burma because they've been Cambodia etc.

What sets Americans apart I feel - is certainly not their stupidity - but their delusion about themselves - broadly speaking of course. I guess - one could say that they are naively optimistic which is kinda cute and refreshing - and entertaining :))

And nothing exemplifies this more so than - American Idol! :D

Yes, Season 6 just began it's run this week and it's THE No.1 show on TV right now. SO ROTFL funny! I LOVE this cheesy show. Me and 36.9Million other viewers who tune in to watch some really weird, some really bad (and a few good) auditions (out of close to 100,000)!!! Yes, that is A LOT of deludos who believe that they are THE next American Idol. OIA = Only In America.
