fu-fu

one of the new cute chinese words i've learnt: fufu - it means 'couple'.
the first 'fu' is from chang-fu meaning husband ... and the second 'fu' is from fu-ren which means spouse. so when someone makes a reference to okm and me, they would say "jian min fu fu ... " another 'cute' word is 'pi-ping' which means 'criticize' ... how cool is that?

i think pu-tong-hua is so beautiful. wish i'd learnt more as a kid 'cos it's quite a challenge learning languages at this age. guess i'm making up for it now! (oh - i'm beginning spanish level 4 this friday!) for those of you who don't know, we have been attending a chinese bible study group - and when i say chinese, i mean people from China and they speak putonghua ALL the time. it's so refreshing to do bible study in mandarin and our chinese friends have been so great and accepting of us. it's weird 'cos they look so much like us and we speak the same language (well, almost) ... but we're actually quite foreign to each other. but thank God that because of Him we can come together to encourage each other in this fellowship.
