yawn. going to bed soon. it's been an interesting day. ... went to a messiah singalong tonite. i enjoyed it as a participant even though it was quite a vocal exercise. in truth, i was thoroughly lost except when the got to the amens and the hallelujah chorus. have new found respect for those church choirs that have attempted the entire oratorio. luckily i sat with the not so musical/choir inclined bunch ... so didn't get any nasty looks as i screeched and fumbled through.
our morning activities also involved some singing ... but of a more manageable level for our abilities. first, a visit to the chapel hill bible church. it was nice to sing contemporary hymns and praises since we don't get to do that at the duke chapel. after the service we went to paloma's birthday party. she's the second little munchkin in the collage below and she's now the ripe old age of 2 and about to be a big sister very soon.
we made a little contribution of the most scrumptious carrot/rosemary miniature scones to the birthday brunch. they were really delicious. ahem. no leftovers at all. zilch. every single one was eaten. yum. mmmm. can't wait to make another batch for thanksgiving this thursday.
we actually made the scones the night before. it was a fun date night activity especially since the movie thing didn't quite work out. we were planning to catch twilight but tickets were sold out. who could've guessed ... :P
on saturday nite, we had dinner at the golden palace after what seems like aeons. we used to go to this place all the time. not sure when we stopped going. anyways we went and had a great meal with the croccos. it was a nice reward after all that hiking and running earlier in the day. both of us are getting quite fit ... we covered roughly 4miles at the eno river state park. had lunch of cold pizza and fruit alfresco. there is nothing more delectable than cold homemade (see previous post!) pizza in the woods. the original plan was to to try a 7.2mile trail at the umstead but had to go look at someone's shed ... nvm. i look forward to the next nice crisp late autumn day that we can steal away to go be with nature. ;P
